Join a ~90-minute study where you'll work with an AI system on a personal physical activity plan — and help us understand how these conversations actually unfold.
Sign-up hereWe're investigating how people experience co-creating a physical activity plan with an AI system.
This study is run at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Digital Health and Prevention in collaboration with Salzburg Research Forschungsgesellschaft m.b.H. and LMU München.
In this study, you'll sit down with a researcher and work through a guided planning session with an AI chatbot. Together with the AI, you'll think through goals, pick activities, swap what doesn't fit, and plan for disruptions. Throughout, we observe how the conversation unfolds — what works, what feels natural, what doesn't — to better understand how people experience interactions like this.
A €20 Salzburg Altstadt voucher, the chance to try out an AI planning task hands-on, and the satisfaction of contributing to research on how people interact with AI in everyday contexts.
The session takes place in our lab and is guided by a researcher throughout.
Short questionnaires covering basic demographics, your current activity level, and a personality questionnaire.
A casual chat with the AI about an everyday topic to help you get comfortable with the interface and the think-aloud method.
The main session: you'll chat with the AI to build a 4-week physical activity plan step by step — defining goals, choosing activities, swapping what doesn't fit, planning for disruptions, and more.
A short set of questions about your experience with the AI system and the plan you created.
A short conversation with the researcher about how the interaction felt and your thoughts on the process.
We're looking for adults who can communicate comfortably in English.
Every participant receives a €20 Salzburg Altstadt voucher at the end of the session. Participation is voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time without consequence.
Spots are limited. Book a session directly — pick a time slot that works for you.

During the study session we collect questionnaire responses, chat logs from your interaction with the AI system, think-aloud audio recordings, and interview audio. All data is linked to a random participant ID — not to your name or contact details.
Research data is stored on institution-managed local infrastructure at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute. No personally identifiable information is stored alongside your research data. Anonymised data may be released open-access upon publication of our results.
Identifiable data (e.g., scheduling details) is handled only by the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute study team. Our collaborators at Salzburg Research Forschungsgesellschaft m.b.H. and LMU München have access only to pseudonymised research data — that is, data linked to a random participant ID, with no personally identifying information attached.
The study complies with the GDPR and the EU AI Act. You have the right to access, rectify, or request erasure of your data at any time. Participation is voluntary, and you may withdraw during or after the session without giving a reason.
